| Landscaping can add years, value to home
A good landscaping job can add thousands of dollars to the value of your home, and Greg McDowell, owner of Yard Man, a residential and commercial landscaping service in Boaz, has all the tips for starting your own landscaping project. The first thing I like to do is figure out what type of plants will work for a setting, McDowell said. You have to decide whats best for shade and what will work best for different types of soil. But first you have to determine what type of soil you have. He said you can either buy a soil sample kit from Lowes or another landscaping store, or you can send your soil sample to Auburn University, which is the better choice, though it takes a little more time to get results. McDowell said your soil will either be acidic or non-acidic.

Deadly Shooting Changes Landscape Of Media Outlets Buying ...
If you Googled "Virginia Tech shooting" or "Virginia shooting" this week, the Internet search engine served up dozens of links to news about the university massacre. Yet some media outlets weren't taking the chance of missing readers' attention by being bumped down the list. The New York Times and The Washington Post, for example, bought keyword ads that put their coverage into the prominent "sponsored links" atop the Google results page. So did The First Post, a British online news magazine. The Times, CNN and Fox News got similar links up on Yahoo; Fox News also mined MSN. Buying keyword ads to run alongside search engine results is a well-established practice. All kinds of companies, in and out of the media, do it when sporting events or TV shows turn something into a hot topic.

Simon Chamberlain
In this industry, I am Simon Chamberlain, chief executive of the Thinc Group. That is who I am to people but that tells people nothing of what I am." Following the flotation of St James's Place, Chamberlain went on gardening leave for about 18 months. It was then that he "rediscovered that he had a family", having focused his efforts on work for the previous 10 years. "Without meaning to sound cheesy, I realised that there is a huge difference between being a parent and being a father." During his year of reflection and having redressed his work/life balance, Chamberlain wrote a book called Why, Not What, which has yet to be published. "It will be my legacy. If we stopped to ask the question 'why?' more often, rather than focusing on 'what' people are doing, they could go a lot further and achieve a lot more."
